DIY Weekend Part Duh - Eve
I am woman, hear me roar! For I have grouted all the tiles! Thanks to the MIL, I discovered the grout bag which is kind of a pastry bag for grout. SOOOOO much easier, even though it kinda made me want cupcakes. Yummm.... cupcakes.

Oh! Oh! Oh! Almost Forgot.....
Here are the new ideas for the Obsession, er, Bathroom:
LIGHTING
Pottery Barn Bellora:

Not too fancy...understated......may be too big.
Pottery Barn Sofia:

Hmmm....little fancier.....might fit better....still can't find on Ebay.....cuz me?....NOT PAYING POTTERY BARN PRICES!
RUG:
Pottery Barn Bridget:

Because, I - like an idiot - let a similar one at Marshall's for $19 get away! Stoopid! Stoopid! Stoopid! Again......blah blah can't find on ebay...blah blah won't pay Pottery Barn prices.
So there are my latest design ideas.
OH! OH! OH!
Almost forgot again! Was going to order the plantation shutters on-line for the window. Good price. Go to Lowe's (see Adult Disney Land #1 below), find shutters for more BUT INCLUDING installation. Huh....Lovey chooses installation. Good Lovey! I get a call today....they are 15% (yes, 15%!!!) off! Which makes them....wait for it...cheaper than online! And Boom goes the Dynamite!
As Mizz Penny Lane from Almost Famous would say, "It's all happening..."

DIY Weekend Part Une
Hello, babies, it's been a while! Due to the tub installation and working weekends, our home improvement project kind stalled out for a few weeks.
Last weekend was the target weekend. Friday night we went to Adult Disney Land #2- Home Depot - and purchased backerboard and supplies for the underlay of the ceramic tile. Everything went surprisingly well on Saturday. Neither Lovey or I got aggravated until the next to last piece to be installed (the one with all of the little cuts). Tired, but happy with the progress, we stopped and went to dinner with friends.
SUNDAY
We go to Adult Disney Land #1, Lowe's, for tile, mortar and grout. That stuff is so heavy! Anyway, we get home and I mention that Lovey's basketball game is on TV. (Why am I such a good wife?) He says he's only watching "just a few minutes" so I go upstairs to start snapping chalk lines and such. He comes upstairs as I'm stressing over if the center tile is square (because if not? YOU'RE SCREWED! At least that's what the instructions say.
He turns on the TV in the bedroom and starts watching while I painstakingly lay tile after tile. Each time he yells at the stupid players, I am convinced I am going to send him away, anywhere, just SHUT UP!!! After I lay, let's say.... a quarter of the tile....he offers to help. By now, I'm in a groove, I'm in a zone, I'm on a roll....It freaked me completely out when he started hurriedly slapping mortar on the floor and QUICKLY (dear heaven!) placing the tile.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Bottom line: we got all of the whole tiles laid on Sunday. AND (and this is why I heart him) Lovey finished the cut tiles yesterday. I mean I PUFFY PINK HEART him.
Here it is:

It's BOO-TEE-FULL!
Tomorrow? GROUT!
By the way, neither of the light fixtures made the cut. Yes, both half-price beauties went back to Le Target. Kinda decided I DO want sparkly now. After all, I am related to Henry VIII, and royalty looks good in jewels.
Keep those candles lit and the prayers comin' - because I'm pretty sure it kept us from killing each other last weekend.

Demolition is Demo-licious!
Let's start with a brief evaluation of how Lovey and I view time differently. Lovey has a bad habit of saying, "Want to go out to eat?" to which I reply "Sure" then hastily change clothes and freshen my make-up. I sit down to wait to go and........he invariably calls someone. WHAT? Didn't we just say we were going somewhere???? And then he recounts his day....and the specifications of the new CTS-V....or the X-box game.......or clutch assembly of the new Ducati. Meanwhile, I am flipping through magazines, SEETHING, because I'm ready and he's sooo not.
I say that to say this.
The Saturday morning we were to start the deconstruction of my bathroom started like any other one. I got up and had 2 cups of cappuccino while watching my DVR'd "What Not To Wear" from the night before. After I finished watching my friends Stacey and Clinton make-over yet another poor, non-fashion-conscious soul, I went up stairs to brush my teeth and put in my contacts. It is then that I hear Lovey engaged in a "vocal" game of Call of Duty 4. Curses to the creator of that game!!!
OK, this is the day that we had set aside to tear this betch apart. So I get the hammer and putty knife and go to town ripping the heck out of the baseboards. When I am 3/4 of the way through, he saunters in and asks "What are you doing?" I'd like to say this is the whole "Women are From Venus, Men are from Blah-Blah", but that is sooo HACK.
Let me just say that there is nothing like ripping the utter hell out of stuff to really exhilerate a girl. To get out all of your frustrations and feel refreshed.
So that brings us up to date sort of. After everything was torn out, I decided that I did indeed want a new tub which began another remodeling adventure. To avoid the petty details, I present this:

Voila! My new tub. Now the hard part starts.....subflooring and tiling and aggravation.
Let's not think of all of that right now. Let's think about pretty things. I am down to 2 choices for light fixtures and this is where you, dear readers, come in. Help me decide!!!
Option 1:

My only worry with this one is that it looks kind of yellow-y.
Option 2:

What do you think? I was going to go with some sort of chandelier, but it seemed too stodgy for what I'm trying to do.
This is definitely the faucet, if they are still in stock that is:

So that is where we stand. I am still showering in a bathroom with plywood floors and doing my makeup with a floor-length mirror and little table set up as a vanity. I feel like I'm homeless, but we're on our way now. Pray for us more than ever, people! Or at least make note of this blog for the family court papers.

Update!
I have my mirror! I have my mirror! Thanks to a willing husband and a 20% off coupon, I have my mirror for my bathroom. I convinced him to drive 20+ miles (out of his way) to the Mall of Georgia to Restoration Hardware. I so owe him all sorts of favors for that. Maybe that's why he did it, hmmm..... All total, we saved almost $100 on the mirror. Woo-hoo!
Of course, the vanities are on back order until the 15th - of FEBRUARY. We won't even discuss my reaction when they tried to give me the floor model. Child, please! Yeah, that's why I got in my car and drove to your store on the coldest, rainiest day of the year (ok, so I got to wear my wellies) and ordered the stupid vanities in the first place. So I could get the scratchy, beat up one off the floor.

Is This Where We Are?
First of all, I want to say how badly I feel right now for the family of Heath Ledger. I feel for his parents who lost a son; I feel for Michelle Williams, his ex-whatever, because I know she is feeling such sorrow right now for someone she probably still loves. I especially feel for their daughter, Matilda, who will never remember or know her father as she grows up.
That being said, HOW DOES FOX NEWS LEAD WITH THIS STORY? Yes, it is unfortunate that a young man with such artistic potential passed away when there was many great things ahead for him. But, seriously, people - this is an election year - one candidate dropped out of the race today and two other candidates played "I know you are but what am I?" last night in Myrtle Beach. There is still a war going on in Iraq, although I'm not sure judging by tonight's news broadcasts.
You know, I would expect this from E! (Don't be mad. You know I still love you you guys) or Entertainment Tonight. I just truly wonder where our heads are that this is the lead story, "Breaking News" even (!) on channel 10 in Columbia, SC. I'm a media whore, I'll admit it - I click 20 times a day on Mamapop.com (I still love you, too)- I'm just a little depressed about the state of the country right now. It was 7:11 PM on Shepard Smith before anything other than a retrospective of Heath Ledger's life and death was presented.
Don't worry, I'll get over it and probably be snarky again by tomorrow.
