Hello, babies, it's been a while! Due to the tub installation and working weekends, our home improvement project kind stalled out for a few weeks.
Last weekend was the target weekend. Friday night we went to Adult Disney Land #2- Home Depot - and purchased backerboard and supplies for the underlay of the ceramic tile. Everything went surprisingly well on Saturday. Neither Lovey or I got aggravated until the next to last piece to be installed (the one with all of the little cuts). Tired, but happy with the progress, we stopped and went to dinner with friends.
SUNDAY
We go to Adult Disney Land #1, Lowe's, for tile, mortar and grout. That stuff is so heavy! Anyway, we get home and I mention that Lovey's basketball game is on TV. (Why am I such a good wife?) He says he's only watching "just a few minutes" so I go upstairs to start snapping chalk lines and such. He comes upstairs as I'm stressing over if the center tile is square (because if not? YOU'RE SCREWED! At least that's what the instructions say.
He turns on the TV in the bedroom and starts watching while I painstakingly lay tile after tile. Each time he yells at the stupid players, I am convinced I am going to send him away, anywhere, just SHUT UP!!! After I lay, let's say.... a quarter of the tile....he offers to help. By now, I'm in a groove, I'm in a zone, I'm on a roll....It freaked me completely out when he started hurriedly slapping mortar on the floor and QUICKLY (dear heaven!) placing the tile.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Bottom line: we got all of the whole tiles laid on Sunday. AND (and this is why I heart him) Lovey finished the cut tiles yesterday. I mean I PUFFY PINK HEART him.
Here it is:
It's BOO-TEE-FULL!
Tomorrow? GROUT!
By the way, neither of the light fixtures made the cut. Yes, both half-price beauties went back to Le Target. Kinda decided I DO want sparkly now. After all, I am related to Henry VIII, and royalty looks good in jewels.
Keep those candles lit and the prayers comin' - because I'm pretty sure it kept us from killing each other last weekend.
